Role Overview

An exciting opportunity exists for a proactive individual to join our Pre-Contract Commercial & Estimating team at Amey.

Amey's PCC&E team work with our dedicated business unit bidding teams to secure some of the most exciting work in the areas of Consulting, Rail, FMDJ, Highways, Waste Treatment and Utilities across the UK. As Principal Commercial Manager you will join a diverse team of commercial and estimating staff working across the business, whilst dedicating yourself predominantly to working on bids and contract negotiations within our large Facilities Management, Defence and Justice business area.

You will work with a team of Bid Managers and Estimators on contracts with existing clients including the MOD, as well as securing new business.

This role can be based anywhere to suit you; though regular travel to our Oxford and Birmingham offices will be required, as well as travel to the South for client meetings.



Key Responsibilities

  • Review contract documents
  • Develop and support Commercial strategy at Amey
  • Lead and support client discussions and commercial negotiations
  • Work alongside Lead Estimator to establish pricing strategy
  • Conduct and advise on Commercial Risk Management
  • Cultivate and maintain excellent working relationships with Amey internal teams and external clients and suppliers



What are we looking for?

This role would suit a candidate with solid commercial experience in either a pre or post contract environment looking to dedicate themselves to the pre-contract industry. You should be able to demonstrate this experience with a main contractor in a relevant industry; specific experience within the Facilities Maintenance or Defence sectors would be extremely beneficial. RICS or equivalent accreditation is also be desirable but is not essential where in-depth commercial experience can be demonstrated. Candidates must comfortable with submitting to a full Background Check if successful.

As our team is geographically diverse you should be comfortable working autonomously when necessary, and happy to travel to Birmingham, Oxford and further South as required.
