Cleaner needed at Stirling House / Highpoint Prison near Haverhill, temporary, £9.94 per hour (Premium Rate).

As one of the leading agency suppliers to the HM Prison Service, for the provision of maintenance trades & support operatives, Hays is seeking to recruit a cleaner to support keeping Stirling House conference centre the fantastic clean and tidy centre it is for its clients and visitors.
Although this will start as a temporary role you will have the opportunity to apply for a permanent position or other roles within the prison service during this time. It is likely that the duration will be extended, however that will be based on your performance is this vital role for the centre.

These roles are in a unique working environment with a strong sense of team work. Always in demand, you could benefit from long-term contracts and there is also potential, once trained, to work in other prisons both locally and nationally if desired.

You will be asked to ensure the centre is kept clean and tidy always making sure it's ready for the next visitors to arrive. Your duties will include cleaning tables, toilets, kitchen and office areas. You will also be asked to do other generic cleaning roles such as putting mugs and plates into the dishwasher, emptying bins and making sure office areas of the centre and kept clean and tidy throughout the day.

Although no formal qualifications are required for this role we do ask that people have previously worked in a cleaning role before. This is a great role given its full time and working in the same place of work every day. This is something not so common with cleaning roles as often part time or you're being asked to move from business to business.

Full training is provided by the establishment/department which is fully paid for.

Although working close to Highpoint prison this role isn't part of the live prison and you are unlikely to come across any prisoners however the centre does support offenders with getting back into work and you may find yourself around people working in the centre who might be serving prisoners on licence allowed to work there.

Given this is working outside the prison service no prison vetting checks are required however we will pay for and put you through a DBS check to check your status with regards to any criminal convictions.

The centre is open from 6am till 10pm and cleaning cover is required throughout those hours. This allows us to give you options on what you would like to work so although those early mornings or late evenings might not be right for you we can offer hours between them however once again always on a full-time basis.
