Working with our client who are the main contractor on site for all catering vacancies at one of the main Oxford hospitals, we are looking for a large number of ‘Ward Hosts’ to work across a selection of shifts & days on an ongoing basis.
Our client are responsible for distributing all food and drink orders to patients staying in the hospital. This requires an exceptional level of customer service, as the role can be patient facing. The successful candidates will be responsible for collecting breakfast, lunch and dinner orders (along with snacks and supper service) from the canteen areas of the hospital and delivering them to various areas throughout the building.
This will involve taking a food & drink station up to a ward and distributing the correct orders to the hospital staff to pass on to patients. You will be responsible for ensuring the food is placed in the correct areas of the trolley (heated/chilled areas) – and that the meals are served to an exceptional standard. Training will be provided.
Candidates will be expected to communicate to an exceptional level. Due to the nature of the work, candidates must have no nail varnish/fake nails, no jewellery (apart from a wedding ring) and they must wear closed black shoes at all times – a uniform is provided.
Due to the location of the role, you will be in contact with both members of the public, hospital staff and patients. This can involve performing your duties around vulnerable and sick patients.
Therefore, the ideal candidate will be polite, well presented and MUST be respectful to patients at all times. Please consider the nature of the location when applying.
A DBS check is required for all candidates working on the premises. We are able to complete DBS checks for all new candidates following an onsite interview and induction.
Therefore, it is not essential that candidates applying for this role are current DBS
holders, although this would be preferred. Candidates will attend an interview on site (approx. 30 minutes) where they will be given an overview of the role and what is involved.
You will complete the DBS forms during the interview – and are able to start immediately, whilst the DBS is ordered ( – but during this time you will work alongside a permanent member of staff at all times. There will be no charge for this.
All candidates applying must be aware that they will be required to under go an occupational health questionnaire in your interview.
PPE is not required & all new starters are provided with uniform.

- The pay rate is £8.21 per hour , £11.75 per hour overtime after 37.5 hours (overtime available).
