Housing Access and Lodgings Officer – £11,473 per annum (£19,123 pro rata rising to £21,695 pro rata) – Home based, covering Colchester, Ipswich and Babergh Districts – Part Time, Permanent – 22.5 hours per week
Offering a fantastic home based opportunity with regular travel covering Colchester, Ipswich and the Babergh Districts, we are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our experienced and expanding Lodgings Team as a Housing Access and Lodgings Officer.
Solo Housing is a registered charity providing housing and support to vulnerable homeless people in East Anglia.
Role responsibilities for the Housing Access and Lodgings Officer:
* The primary objective of this position is to secure and access suitable lodging accommodation for single homeless people
* Find suitable landlords for our lodgings register and housing clients in Colchester, Ipswich and Babergh Districts
* Provide advice and assistance to single people who are seeking accommodation or need assistance to prevent their homelessness
* Deliver a matching service for lodger landlords and prospective lodgers
* Assess each lodgings application to determine their suitability
* This post is home-based but will be covering Colchester, Ipswich and Babergh
* 22.5 hours per week, working days to be mutually agreed
Requirements for the Housing Access and Lodgings Officer:
* Must have the ability to assess a person’s housing needs and suitability for lodgings
* Ability to communicate and assess landlords for suitability
* Experience of working in a customer focussed environment
* Own transport and a full driving licence are essential
* An enhanced DBS check will also be required
* Must have a positive and creative approach towards obtaining lodgings accommodation
* Ability to empathise with vulnerable client group
* Good IT skills
* Ability to work flexibly (some appointments may be early evening for those who are working)
