Young People's Practitioner (Affected Others) – £12,037 - £13,029 per annum (pro rata of £20,245 - £21,913) – Norwich, Norfolk – Part Time, Permanent – 22 hours per week
Offering a friendly working environment and team, we are looking for an experienced professional to support young people under the age of 19 affected by substance misuse issues of others.
The Matthew Project is a value driven charity working across Norfolk and Suffolk giving help and hope through programmes with adults, young people and communities affected by drugs and alcohol.
The office base for this position is in Norwich but you will cover a wider geographical area. The work will be carried out within the service location and in the community; the ability to travel is essential.
Role responsibilities for the Young People's Practitioner:
* Provide advice and informal education to young people in Norfolk to raise awareness of the risks of drugs and alcohol
* Deliver one to one psychosocial sessions to young people including: group work, drop-ins and awareness-raising sessions at various events and venues
* Use evidence based techniques to deliver brief interventions and motivational interviewing
* Work in universal, targeted and specialist settings to identify, engage with, screen and assess service users
* Use informal outreach and targeted work to educate parents and carers, including the delivery of information evenings in schools and local communities
* Collect relevant data and complete all necessary paperwork associated with the service including referral and assessment forms, NDTMS data and any other administrational paperwork
Requirements for the Young People's Practitioner:
* A valid UK driving licence and access to a motor vehicle (or workable alternative for disabled applicants) as the ability to travel is essential
* Experience of working directly with young people
* An understanding of the issues facing young people in relation to drug and alcohol use
* A relevant qualification or experience
* Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills
* Ability to form professional relationships with young people
* Positive, co-operative and solution focussed
