An excellent chance to join a supportive team in a warm home environment as a Support Worker supporting young people who have learning disabilities.
Based near central Leighton Buzzard, the residential home that you will be working in is a large 5 bedroomed home with a big garden. The young people are aged between 14 and 19 and as part of a team you will support them in all of their everyday life activities such as:
helping them get ready for school and transporting them to school
menu planning and mealtimes
personal care
trips out, after school activities and hobbies
medication and appointments
dealing with challenging behaviour and descalation to promote positive behaviour
You will be joining an organisation which has great training for all of it's staff including Positive Behaviour Support. You will receive a thorough induction and be able to shadow and observe for the first two to four weeks in this post. This home's existing staff team are all welcoming and approachable and it is run by an extremely experienced manager who is constantly improving the home and supporting staff to progress.
The ideal candidate will have a resilient, positive nature and have previous experience of dealing with the challenging behaviours which are associated with severe learning disabilities. Even though experienced you will be willing to learn at every level and be proactive in your approach both as an individual and within the team.
There are full-time (37.5 hours per week) and part-time (minimum of 22.5 hours per week) positions available.
You will be working 7.5 hour shifts 7am - 2.30pm and 2.30pm - 10pm which includes weekend and bank holiday working on a rota basis.
The benefits, which includes a generous holiday allowance are:
6.6 weeks (including statutory public holidays) raising with service to a maximum of 7.6 weeks (including statutory public holidays) after 5 years (pro rata for part time staff)
