What is the purpose of this role?

To assist the team to accurately install and maintain OLEMI style Overhead Line Equipment. Liaising with the Supervisor ensuring standards are met and give direction to OLEC 2 staff to deliver a safe, cost effective program of works. Ensuring all works are compliant as per NwR standards/campaign change documents, confirming accurate design tolerance to the required standards in a challenging environment. Ensuring consistent and accurate standard of work is delivered in a timely manner.



What will this role involve?

  • Assist in organising the activities, keeping the Supervisor/Construction Manager constantly updated on production progress.
  • Endeavour to achieve high levels of safety, performance, attendance and behavioural standards.
  • To promote safe working practices and ensure implementation and compliance to the Amey Safety Management System.
  • To ensure that all contract, technical and administrative instructions are implemented.
  • Assist in ensuring that the consist is safe to travel on the infrastructure.
  • To ensure that high standards of housekeeping is maintained within working environment.
  • Maintain regular and appropriate dialogue and contact with the Supervisor in order to fully understand the Electrification projects aspirations and objectives.
  • Assist in ensuring that the Team delivers its Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), which include financial, commercial, safety, engineering and personnel related issues.
  • Assist in the production of and submission of accurate shift reports as directed, in an agreed format and timely manner.
  • To liaise with team and client members as necessary to ensure the efficient running of the project.
  • Promote and develop positive working relationships within Network Rail.
  • Participate in improvements in Safety, Health and Environmental Management in line with the objectives set by the Construction Manager.
  • Conduct monthly safety briefings with system staff
  • Carry out regular safety checks and inspections as directed and close call reporting and regular VFL's.
  • Ensure any remedial works or repairs carried out on site are carried out in accordance with Rail Industry standard maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure any reactive maintenance carried out is promptly recorded & reported to the Maintenance Supervisor in a timely manner.

SPECIFIC SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in regular monthly safety meeting with the Construction Manager.
  • Assist and support the Construction Manager ensuring project compliance with statutory legislation, Network Rail Group and Company Standards, and Amey management systems, processes and procedures. These include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Responsible for ensuring that all planned Safety Inspections are completed in accordance with the approved programme and that identified actions are closed out in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that adequate and site access and welfare facilities are provided for all work activities and used correctly.
  • Hold monthly safety meeting with direct reports to include monthly cascade safety brief.
  • Ensure that accident / incident reporting and investigations are undertaken in a timely manner as instructed and in accordance with the safety management system, and that issues arising are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that stipulated PPE is worn by all staff in compliance with mandated procedures and legislation.
  • Ensure that mandatory training and competency certification for all site staff are valid and copies available.
  • Ensure that statutory safety and relevant company safety documents are displayed in site cabins and office.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the Ground disturbance procedure / permit to dig is strictly adhered to records kept accordingly.
  • Ensure that all plant and equipment are 'in date' for the allocated task.
  • Co-ordinate site lay-out with due regard for site security.



What are we looking for?

  • PTS/COSS
  • OTP core
  • Knowledge of risk assessment techniques
  • Must be able to drive
  • Flexibility with rostering and working shift patterns
  • Core planner skills (PIC)
  • Be able to work well under pressure for extended periods of time.
  • Computer literate

Experience

  • 5+years OLEMI equipment
  • Mark 1A experience
  • Mark 3B experience
  • UK1 experience
  • Familiarisation of ART 17th Edition
  • Must have a railway background
  • Understanding of Railway Operating Environment, Railway Planning systems, cost control and requirements, rail infrastructure including interfaces between disciplines
  • Working knowledge of the Rule Book.
  • Experience of operating different types of machines and knowledgeable on over-head line electrification
