Group Property is responsible for keeping our 70,000 colleagues and 1850 buildings safe and operational. We look after a whole range of activities, from opening, closing and consolidating offices, refurbishment of branches, providing services like catering and security in our offices, and sustainability of our estate.

 

The Construction and Standards team is responsible for the design and construction of Group Property's estate. The team consists of specialists with architecture and surveying capability, with expertise of standards and provides assurance that the work undertaken to our estate is safe and effective. The team is also responsible for the delivery of a safe, resilient and sustainable data centre infrastructure. This is critical for the continuity of the Group as a whole, with any disruptions having a material effect on operations.

 

This role will be responsible for all construction related matters concerning investment in our data centre and major employment locations. A real Subject Matter Expert for our internal clients, in this role you'll liaise with technical parties on mechanical and electrical infrastructure, leading the interpretation of this advise and its' implementation.

 

Our ideal Manager, Data Centres & Resilience will:

  • Manage all construction technical matters liaising with our M&E engineers (ESP) and contractors (ISG, Wates) in collaboration with our suppliers
  • Attend steering groups, working group meetings
  • Offer advice on all technical M&E related matters in a clear, concise and jargon free manner.
  • Provide robust advice at all points in the project lifecycle, in partnership with our outsource supplier.
  • Support the gathering of critical MI and the preparation of data and reports to timescales and formats required.
  • Attend regular site meetings to ensure works are completed safely and in accordance with the agreed design.
  • Monitor the quality of the construction process and ensure compliance with the agreed LBG standards and safety protocols.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement with the Group's suppliers.

 

To deliver this role effectively, you'll need:

  • A background in Construction Project Management and Chartered Member of appropriate body CIOB, MRICS (desired but not essential).
  • Demonstrable experience of working on technical change in M&E infrastructure.
  • A strong track record of delivering projects and programmes of M&E technical change on time and on budget.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently whilst supporting the delivery process.
  • Collaborative with an innovative mind-set and with the ability to identify technical ways of working efficiently without compromising the business case outcome.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external audiences at all level.
  • Experience in developing and working under framework agreements with Tier 1, 2 & 3 contractors.
