What is the purpose of this role?

  • Undertake work safely; with due regard for the environment and in accordance with Amey policies, procedures, risk assessments and method statements.
  • Adopt cultural behavioural safety principles with respect to control of health and safety
  • Support H&S initiatives, innovations and Safety Improvement Groups (SIG's) and seek to continually improve health and safety standards and performance.
  • Report incidents promptly.
  • Undertake routine maintenance, schemes or third party works.
  • Where suitably trained undertake installation, maintenance and removal of traffic management measures.
  • Where suitably trained undertake VRS repairs, maintenance, inspection and scheme work.
  • Where suitably trained undertake soft estate works.
  • Undertake incident response activities.
  • Undertake winter maintenance and severe weather related activities.
  • Undertake secondary response activities where suitably trained.
  • Comply with requirements regarding vehicle, depot, site and plant security.
  • Maintain good housekeeping with respect to work sites, depots and vehicles.
  • Store materials correctly and in appropriate designated location. Undertake a check of materials prior to use and follow requirements of COSHH assessment
  • Carry out all required pre work safety checks.
  • Report defects.
  • Undertake equipment stock takes as required by Supervisor and arrange/receive deliveries.
  • Participate in on-call/standby rotas for winter and incident response where required and appropriately trained.
  • Willing to work overtime as and when required and at short notice.
  • Willing to be adaptable and flexible to meet business needs



What will this role involve?

Maintain high technical standards Attend project and work briefings as required Drive/operate vehicles/plant requiring general and specialist skills including vehicle checks, routine maintenance, (e.g. oil and water checks) and cleaning Undertake all aspects of highway maintenance works including routine and cyclic maintenance activities, minor civil's works, litter picking Winter maintenance operations Undertake winter and emergency call out and standby Take responsibility for the safety of yourself and others within your team to ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and safe operation to protect member of the public. Carry out vehicle checks prior to shift starting, correctly filling in defect books Record Drivers' hours Allocation and capturing time and resource utilisation in line with operated allocation system To keep records, complete all necessary paperwork, communicate and liaise with other employees of Amey, sub-contractors, the emergency services, the police, the general public, clients and customers



What are we looking for?

Qualifications :

  • NRSW Operative
  • HGV ( If possible but not a must )
  • Full driving licence
  • First Aid
  • CSCS/FISS card
  • VRS Foundation course (Lantra)
  • NVQ Level 2
  • L2 General Fencing (Lantra)

Experience:

  • As a Lead erector working on OBB and Flexi Beam.
  • Knowledge of chapter 8 and TM restriction when working on a live network.
  • Highways routine maintenance: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Incident response: 1 year (Preferred)
