The Organisation:

Our client is recruiting on behalf of an independent voluntary managed hostel in Bristol. Working in partnership with the National Probation Service, the hostel provides accommodation for male former offenders taking their first steps back into the community.

They are now looking for a Senior Support Worker to join their team and aid their residents in re-establishing themselves into society. This role is available on a full or part time basis.

The Role:

As a Senior Support Worker, you will support the smooth running of the hostel using a methodical approach and your skills as a problem solver and resolver. 

This role is suited to you if you are a calm, confident individual who can be assertive in a high-risk environment to benefit the hostel’s residents.

Joining a team of six Senior Support Workers, you will:

- Support, motivate and engage residents in the process of changing their offending behaviour
- Supervise residents in-line with hostel policies and procedures
- Liaise with colleagues to resolve any issues
- Communicate with staff, residents and external authorities

About You:

To be considered, you’ll need:

- The ability to communicate effectively and confidently with different groups, including staff, residents, partnerships and local authorities
- The ability to manage difficult or challenging behaviour with a calm demeanour
- The ability to respond in an assertive and appropriate manner when dealing with stressful and difficult situations
- Strong record-keeping skills
- At a minimum, GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths

Other organisations may call this role Hostel Supervisor, Care Worker, Hostel Worker, Hostel Assistant, Trainee Social Worker or Social Worker.

This is a full time role, working 37 hours per week. Part time hours are also available.
