A Good' rated primary school in Muswell Hill is currently recruiting a Special needs Assistant to work in EYFS with a child with severe Autism and MLD. This role will be on part time basis during term time (17.5 hours per week - 8:30-12:00) and to start ASAP.
As a Special Needs Assistant, you must have a natural aptitude for behaviour management and interpersonal skills as well as an enthusiastic and positive manner. You must have a high level of resilience, a great sense of humour, be able to build rapport easily and will ideally have experience working with students who have Autism, PMLD, SEMH or Behaviour Issues.
The school has requested extremely specific skill set for this position as described below.
You will need:
• at least two years' experience of working with children with SEND with significant difficulties. The level of experience relates specifically to either extensive experience of working with children on the autistic spectrum (non-verbal) or significant knowledge of children on the autistic spectrum
• a qualification relevant to ASD comparable to NVQ Level 3 (or above), or a higher-level qualification in ASD; MAKATON - level 2 (minimum); PECs
• to be able to provide and deliver supporting strategies for a child with autism (non-verbal) and moderate learning difficulties within the classroom setting and on a 1:1 basis;
• to develop supportive relationships with a child with Special Educational Needs and the class teacher and parents
• good organisational skills;
• good attendance and punctuality
