Position: Dementia Advisor
Location: Exeter, Devon
Contract type: Full Time, Fixed Term (Maternity Cover)
Hours: 35 per week (part time hours may be considered)
Salary: £19,964 to £20,770 depending on skills and experience
Closing date: 28 November 2019

About the role:
This role is part of the Devon and Torbay Dementia Adviser service which receives referrals and general enquiries by phone, email and post. The service is run by Dementia Support Managers, Dementia Advisers, Dementia Support Workers and Peer Support Group Facilitators. Together we provide expert education and support to anyone diagnosed with dementia or affected by dementia, in Devon and Torbay.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with excellent communication and people skills to join our Dementia Adviser team. Dementia Advisers are based within our Exeter office, providing information and support to people living with dementia and their carer’s. The purpose of the role is to help our service users to maintain their independence, improve their sense of well-being, and put them in more control of their lives.
You will work with colleagues in your team to process referrals in a timely manner, assessing the needs of the individual and responding in a friendly and professional manner
You will be signposting to other appropriate services, so it is essential that any information provided is accurate, accessible and understood by the service user.
About you:
The successful candidate will need to possess NVQ level 3, health and social care (or equivalent), and understand dementia and the needs of those affected by dementia. You will also have good organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage several tasks at once and keep yourself motivated to perform to meet deadlines. You will be a committed team player, but also have the ability to work independently on tasks assigned to you. To be successful in this role, you will have excellent communication skills and this role requires regular use of IT packages, therefore a good standard of IT would be desirable.
You may have experience of the following: Dementia Adviser, Care Assistant, Caseworker, Special Needs Assistant, Social Worker, Social Care, Community Care, Helpline Coordinator, Volunteering Officer, Support Worker, Mental Health, Dementia etc
