Role Overview

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager to provide commercial expertise to our large Ministry of Justice contract. Working across prison establishments in Yorkshire & Humberside and North East England the QS/CM will provide commercial input on projects under the contract. The role will be based out of our Buckshaw or Chorley offices near Preston.

In this role you will provide expertise to ensure that commercial best practice is adhered to with Health and Safety continuing to be a top priority across the board. Responsibilities will include:

  • Pricing project works in liaison with the Project Managers.
  • Reporting on profit & loss for each project.
  • Issuing subcontract instructions.
  • Final accounting subcontract works.
  • Final accounting projects with the client.
  • Providing weekly reporting data to feed in to weekly P & L reports.
  • Liaising with the client; establishing a firm working relationship to ensure continuous improvement of the contract.



What are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have strong commercial experience within the FM and/or Construction industries, ideally built from a QS background. A relevant degree qualification or accreditation is desirable and competency in computer skills to a high level with knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products particularly Excel and Word. You should have a strong focus on Health & Safety and contract compliance with the drive to ensure high safety standards are always maintained. This role also requires proactive client management with any experience working with a large client or local authority being beneficial. The position will also require some travelling.
