Brighton College has an opportunity for a Lifeguard to join the team based in Brighton. You will join us on a part time, permanent basis and in return, receive a competitive hourly rate of £10.09 per hour. Hours: Various hours available throughout the week and weekends available on a casual basis. The Lifeguard role: The primary purpose of this post is to take responsibility for the safety of swimming pool users. This role will report into the Duty Managers of the School of Science and Sports Facilities. Applicants need to have an up to date National Pool Lifeguard Qualification. Key responsibilities of our Lifeguard: - Maintain a constant surveillance of pool users and recognise and react to signs of danger; - Explaining and enforcing rules, regulations and policies to ensure safety of pool users;  - Ability to remain calm in emergency situations; - Carry out emergency rescues and treatments until medical staff arrive; - Provide a professional and friendly welcome to all users; - Promote and provide an environment that is clean, safe and comfortable for all users; - Ensure timetables sessions are set up and cleared away promptly; - Cleaning duties as required on a day to day basis to achieve the highest standards of presentation, supported by  the Cleaning team; - Assist with sports equipment set ups and supervise activities; - Be familiar with the College’s Health & Safety Policy and its application to all site facilities;  - Any other reasonable management request  As our Lifeguard ideally, you’ll have: - Customer focused with a passion for providing exceptional service - Driven and enthusiastic - Be able to play an active role as part of a team - Be able to work effectively unsupervised and complete set tasks  - Be able to use own initiative and have a can do attitude  - Be flexible and respond to programme changes as required  - Be a good communicator  - Abie to follow Brighton College’s Policies and Procedures - Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation Desirable: - National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) - First Aid  - Manual Handling - COSHH - Child Protection Benefits of becoming our Lifeguard: - Brighton College provides a contributory pension scheme, which all eligible employees will be automatically enrolled into within 3 months of commencement of employment - Well-being programme including; healthy heart checks, access to books, magazines and DVDs from the College Library, fitness classes and English Language classes - Sodexo Lifestyle Saving Programme - Free Uniform - Opportunities available for on the job training and professional development Closing date for applications: Midday on Monday 9th December 2019 If you feel you are the right candidate for the role as our Lifeguard, then please click ‘apply’ now!
