Where does this role fit in?

We are seeking an experienced Account Director for our Waterbeach site, reporting directly into the Managing Director of Waste Treatment. Amey deliver waste processing and recycling services to Cambridgeshire County Council. This is a £731million, 28-year partnership.

Amey operate several waste treatment technologies to manage household waste, including a Mechanical Biological Treatment plant and in-vessel composting facility. There are three waste transfer stations along with 9 recycling centres across Cambridgeshire.

We are seeking and experienced Account Director who ideally has experience within the waste treatment sector. You will have previously P&L responsibility with a proven record of profitable performance. You will have a strong customer focus with a strong operational background as well as being commercially focused.

What will this role involve?

  • Work with the leadership team to develop, implement, monitor and review contractual deliverables for the portfolio.
  • Work with key internal stakeholders to develop and manage annual business objectives, plans and budgets for the account.
  • Own the P&L and implement the business plan(s) across the account.
  • Manage performance, with regular site visits and performance review against agreed targets.
  • Ensure and improve the delivery of service excellence across the account through maximising efficiency and effectiveness, actively sharing best practice across contracts and seeking opportunities for profit improvement.
  • Manage supply chain to deliver service excellence and account profitability.
  • Be accountable for health and safety culture which ensures safe processes, procedures and behaviours as well as continuous improvement through best practice activities
  • Support and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Support and implement a culture of customer centricity.
  • Lead and manage a team to deliver the contract(s) requirements.
  • Support and reflect the 'One Amey' culture within the business



What are we looking for?

Our Account Directors are leaders, able to take and be accountable for decisions within and across our contracts. You will be highly experienced, and effective, in customer relationship management with the ability to understand, implement and challenge commercial contracts. With an understanding of data analytics, you will use tangible data to support operations and decision making. An expert in your field you will have a clear understanding of the water industry ensuring our client is managed to the level of expectation and above, whilst also ensuring we remain competitive and current. We require strong leadership skills and individuals with a proven ability to manage through change, develop and motivate multiple teams. Supporting our clients will require influencing skills and experience of managing a significant customer, or multiple smaller customers or large P&L.

We are looking for high calibre individuals who can demonstrate where they have successfully delivered against business plans, managed contract performance and ideally managed a business improvement or change management project.
