Salary & Benefits: £38,934 to £45,422 base salary, plus significant annual personal bonus %, 13% employer pension contribution, 4% flexible cash pot, private medical insurance, 28 days holiday plus bank holidays. This Software Engineering role sits in the Motor Digital eCommerce Systems team who are responsible for maintaining and developing Lloyds Blackhorse Web and API Motor systems. Your day to day role would involve software development and technical problem solving on .Net or Java applications, contributing ideas to the team and challenging existing practices, supporting testing activities and other ad-hoc development support as the team needs. We are involved in project based work and business as usual developments. There's an opportunity to work with high performing technical engineers to expand your technical knowledge, along with sharing your own experiences

So what am I responsible for as Software Engineer?

We are doing a lot of exciting work in our Engineering space. You would work within a cross-functional team and collaborate with a range of technical and non-technical staff to shape and review technical designs, support project stakeholders to understand critical path, team engagements and priorities, specifying and supporting low-level infrastructure design and configuration details.

Primarily you would be responsible for building and maintaining relevant applications in Java or C#.NET 4.5.2. Supporting those developments through route to live environments and relevant infrastructure support. You would work in an Agile DevOps environment.

What experience, skills and knowledge will I need to do this role?

You will need a minimum of two years of experience of relevant software engineering across the whole software development lifecycle, ideally in a large scale complex systems environment. Your primary development language should be either Java or C#.Net and you will need to be comfortable communicating with a range of people.

Desired would be knowledge of agile development practices, SQL Server, TDD/BDD, automated builds, continuous integration, code quality metrics and any exposure to financial services, but please apply if you don't!

Alternative backgrounds we are happy to consider would be strong relevant graduates with the desired coding skills or perhaps people who have retrained recently to move into software development.
