Our client is a leading manufacturer within its field. They are looking for a Accounts Assistant for a 12-month fixed term contract on Part Time basis to join the business.

Salary: £22,000- £24,000 - pro rata'd

Hours: Either 3 full 8 hour days or 5 shorter days

Duration: 12 month fixed term

Role/Responsibilities:

The role of the Accounts Assistant is to play an integral part in the day-to-day operations of the Finance department, managing the duties that surround both accounts receivable and accounts payables. This role is also responsible for the management of Payroll for the site.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Purchase Ledger

  • Full responsibility for all purchase ledger activities including;
  • posting invoices
  • reconciling customer statements
  • handling all supplier queries, including disputes
  • setting up of new supplier accounts
  • posting of supplier payments
  • Processing of employee expenses, ensuring that their travel and expenditure complies with company policy.
  • Reconciling company credit cards and all administration tasks associated with the Credit Cards plus reconciling creditors control accounts and the detailed creditors listing.

Sales Ledger

  • Full responsibility for all sales ledger activities including;
  • producing the billing activity reports
  • preparing billable items and invoicing customers for all activities performed in the month.
  • raising credit notes as and when required
  • handling customer queries
  • Credit Control management and reporting
  • matching and posting of banking receipts
  • Produce any forecasted reports as required by the business.
  • Reconciling debtors control accounts and the detailed debtors listing.

VAT

  • Preparation and review of quarterly VAT returns
  • Preparation and review of EC sales returns

As and when backup support for Payroll including Time and Attendance system

  • Full responsibility for all Payroll activities including the management of;
  • all transactions relating to payroll activity such as overtime, on call, SSP, SMP etc.
  • processing salaries on SAGE payroll system
  • printing and distributing payslips
  • processing bank payments
  • posting all elements of wages onto the SAP system using payroll reports
  • Year-end payroll activity, to include P11D's and P60's.
  • monitoring the Time and Attendance system; producing documentation for review by management.
  • monthly reviewing overtime and sick pay in line with company policy, partnering with HR and any managers this may relate to.
  • Time and attendance SME for all finance/payroll activities, providing support to other SME's as and when required.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with Auditors and any other interested parties such as HMRC and Welsh Government.
  • Being a business partner to the facility
  • Assess and manage problems in own area of work; for the department and where relevant across the organisation
  • Any ad hoc projects as required to make improvements to the practices and processes of the role and or department
  • Any other duties as advised by the Finance Controller
  • Provide cover for colleagues.

General:

  • Maintain a heightened level of integrity and confidentiality at all times.
  • Attend and contribute to 121 and appraisal process, attend meetings, training and other events as required.
