Background The Bike Project is a refugee charity going through a significant period of growth as we address increased demand for our services and our social enterprise. This part time position is required to manage the service delivery of Pedal Power, our programme of cycle training for refugee women. We are looking for an experienced project manager who can help us pursue our charitable mission and sustain our commitment to support refugees throughout the UK as the charity grows. About The Bike Project Our mission is simple: to get refugees cycling! We are a community of cyclists, refugees, mechanics and volunteers. We collect donations of second-hand bikes, fix them together at our workshop, and then donate them to asylum seeking refugees in the UK. We have donated nearly 5,500 bikes to date. A proportion of the bikes that we receive are sold to the public through our online shop to generate income for the charity and ensure our long-term sustainability. Purpose of the role This role is responsible for the day to day management and delivery of Pedal Power, a bespoke cycle training programme for female refugees. As internal training lead, the post holder will ensure that all lessons are delivered in line with project plans and meet our strategic aims and objectives, whilst delivering high quality and positive outcomes for participants.  The post holder will be required to carry out monitoring and evaluation activities, including impact reporting, with support of the National Operations Manager. Duties and responsibilities Responsible for the project management, development and delivery of Pedal Power and lead on cycle training within the organization. Maintain a good working knowledge of health, safety and safeguarding policies and procedures and take primary responsibility for quality standards, and risk management during cycle training delivery. Ensure accurate records are kept of cycle training and that follow up activities are actioned in a timely manner. Ensure monitoring activities are carried out at lessons and impact reporting is completed with support of the National Operations Manager. Manage a pool of cycle instructors (including freelancers) and management of the instructor rota. Cultivate and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders including instructors, project partners, funders, volunteers and beneficiaries. Ensure inductions for all volunteers and freelancers working on Pedal Power are completed satisfactorily. Work closely with the Marketing Manager to develop outreach materials to promote and celebrate Pedal Power. Work with the wider team to ensure that project outreach is conducted in a consistent and appropriate manner which generates high quality referrals. Handle large volumes of sensitive and personal data, using a CRM system (Salesforce), and ensure that data protection and filing systems are adhered to at all times. Attend events, from time to time, where it may be required to speak publically and promote our services. To perform any other reasonable duties as required by the organization. Person Specification Excellent English language skills (both written and oral) are essential for this role. Additional language skills (preferably Arabic, Farsi, French, Tigrinya or Amharic) will be considered beneficial. A minimum of 2 years’ experience and applied knowledge of successful project delivery, ideally working within a wider framework of strategic objectives, is essential. Qualifications in project management will be considered beneficial. A National Standards Instructor qualification (min PCA pending) is essential. The post holder must be a regular cyclist, confident cycling in traffic and has experience of teaching groups and individuals at all levels. Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation frameworks and a demonstrated experience of their successful implementation is essential. Experience of managing external stakeholders and a demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain good working relationships is essential. Qualifications in first aid and knowledge and experience of safeguarding policies and procedures are beneficial. Experience of line management and knowledge of HR best practice is desirable. Ability to work autonomously to achieve agreed objectives and organizational targets with minimal supervision. High level of organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and a thorough and systematic approach to diagnosing and solving problems. Knowledge of the cycling and refugee sectors in the UK, and experience of working or volunteering for a charitable organization. Excellent interpersonal awareness and communication skills with the ability to listen and understand the needs of others. An ability to conduct all duties in a manner that is non-judgmental and respects differences. Working conditions The hours are flexible but this job wll require availability to travel to different sites for some of the lesson delivery (current schedule is Monday evening, Wednesday and Friday mornings). Lessons are generally outside, in variable conditions and will include working with vulnerable people in sometimes challenging situations, as such, an up to date, DBS Enhanced Disclosure is required. Physical requirements This role requires physical fitness to cycle for extended periods of time. Line Reports Volunteers.
