An exciting opportunity has arisen at our client’s Service Centre in Gillingham for a qualified Social Worker to join the team.

 

Salary: £29,500 - £34,000

Location: Gillingham

Vacancy Type: Permanent

Working Hours Per Week: 35

About the Role:

As a Children’s service Practitioner you will provide direct services to children and families, working in an interagency context where activities will be complex and where there is a requirement to take considerable responsibility and work autonomously.

You will have a manageable caseload of approximately 10-12 children/adults and the opportunity to participate in the testing and evaluation of new and innovative services. There are excellent training and development opportunities. You will also have opportunity to contribute to service development and Opportunities to work across the country with colleagues from different directorates and with different skills and experiences including media and fundraising.

The Gillingham Service Centre is currently delivering a range of individual and group work services with the themes of domestic abuse, children who have experienced or have been impacted by sexual abuse, children who identify issues with their well-being and looked after children.

The services they are currently delivering are:

  • Sexual Abuse Recovery Services (LTFI)
  • Domestic Abuse Recovering Together (DART)
  • Positive Pathways
  • Reflective Fostering

 

Other key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide direct services (on an individual or group work basis) for children, their families, carers and adults.
  • Liaise and work positively with partner agencies and respectfully challenge where necessary in order to promote the best interest of children.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships and work in partnership with other agencies in order to deliver effective services and attend a range of internal and external meetings as required.
  • Support colleagues through co working, mentoring or critical appraisal and supervise students and volunteers as appropriate in line with agency policy.
  • Work with fundraising staff to promote the work of the team.

 

About You:

To be successful in the role of Children's Service Practitioner you will have the following skills and experience:

  • A recognised social work qualification and registration with the relevant social care council within the UK.
  • Previous experience of direct work with children and their families and proven ability in identifying risk and initiating child protection interventions.
  • Good knowledge of up to date child protection best practice, research and legislation.
  • Experience of working in multi-agency teams.
  • Experience and proven ability to engage with service users, involving them in planning, decision making.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and experience of working with vulnerable adults and children.
  • Experience and ability to learn and work in a computer literate environment.
