Job description

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) are looking for an Operating Protocols Development Lead to join our dynamic team who are all working towards delivering effective, services to our broad range of customers in Maritime Services.

The purpose of this role is to act as lead in the development of operating protocols for all forthcoming DMSS (Directorate of Maritime Safety and Standards) transformation programmes and projects.

Another key part of this role is to challenge existing ways of working to deliver the organisation’s aims to deliver services to our customers in a more efficient way, ensuring that we are making better use of our resources.

You will work alongside stakeholders to review processes and develop effective, efficient, and auditable process maps.
 

Responsibilities

The role responsibilities include:

• Working with key stakeholders and lead the development, testing and rolling out consistent Operating Protocols across the DMSS organisation.

• Where appropriate, provide challenge to existing processes and identify opportunities to modernise and improve efficiency and service to our customers.

• Report/ manage issues/ risks as appropriate and identify solutions for approval.

• Lead and engage with stakeholders, building relationships, to facilitate the process of change.

• Lead, monitor and control the development of Operating Protocols across the Directorate, reporting on progress and applying effective governance

• Attend relevant boards and working groups as required to report progress and ratify/ confirm approval of process changes

About you

We are seeking an individual who is confident with engaging with stakeholders and colleagues across the Agency at all levels. You will use your excellent interpersonal skills to change and adapt your communication style to ensure that your message is clear and direct.

You will be a strong advocate for change and continuous improvement, identifying problems and finding solutions to ensure a better way of working are achieved. You will be able to drive forward these changes and co-ordinate them with stakeholders and colleagues at all levels.

We will look to you to be flexible and resilient, you will be comfortable managing your own workload and organising yourself to ensure that maximum productivity is achieved and deadlines are met.

You will need to be confident and have a keen eye for detail when working with Visio and other Microsoft applications, delivering information that is accurate and precise.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is an executive agency of the United Kingdom working to prevent the loss of lives at sea and is responsible for implementing British and international maritime law and safety policy. It is also responsible for land based search and rescue helicopter operations from 2015.
