Position Summary

The Senior PR Manager is responsible for setting the PR strategy (consumer) for DNE’s UK flagship lifestyle and entertainment brands in line with their wider creative and commercial objectives. They execute brand PR for Really, Quest Red, Food Network, HGTV, TLC and Investigation Discovery and are supported by a Publicist and Marcomms Intern. Reporting to the Marcomms Director, the Senior PR Manager works closely with the Marketing Managers and Digital & Social Manager to ensure a fully aligned Marcomms function for the channel brands, contributing to maximising audiences and boosting awareness to build brand fame. They also lead on the relationship with the UK channel’s talent, working directly with their reps to negotiate access, and agree and oversee all promotional activity.

Responsibilities

  • Set out communications strategy and deliver ambitious PR campaigns with standout results for flagship brands/priority programming (largely but not limited to UK commissions) that deliver on budget and on time
  • Manage talent (mostly local but also international) and their representatives in relation to promotion of their programmes, and in support of the channel/network. Negotiate access, maximize coverage opportunities and agree and oversee all promotional activity
  • Oversee press office function including on call response to media enquiries, devising Q&A’s, arranging interviews and briefing spokespeople. Also manage the publicist and intern and oversee campaigns and promotional materials including PI, highlights, previews, clips, images
  • Monitor and exploit news agenda to maintain ongoing news generation
  • Work closely with the Marketing Managers and Digital & Social Manager to ensure a fully aligned approach to integrated campaigns
  • Work collaboratively with the wider channel and UK team (scheduling, research, programming) to ensure PR is aligned with wider business objectives and brand strategies
  • Manage allocated PR budget
  • Work with the Picture Desk to manage shoots, key art and photography
  • Manage Press Events and Junkets, and sometimes network and/or launch events
  • Provide written reports and evaluations for key campaigns
  • Form excellent working relationships with press and advocates
  • Stakeholder management
  • Input into brand presentations to support business objectives e.g affiliate negotiations/Channel Head presentations
  • Work with international colleagues on global priorities

Requirements

  • Proven experience managing consumer PR for a UK broadcaster or for a high-profile consumer brand in relevant related sector within the UK
  • Demonstration of creative and strategic thinking, with experience delivering high-profile, effective and creative PR campaigns
  • Experience of managing high profile and challenging talent, and dealing with talent reps
  • Extensive experience of both proactive and reactive media relations with strong and relevant consumer press contacts across a range of national media – print, digital, broadcast – and experience in influencer engagement
  • Ability to work seamlessly across a varied portfolio with numerous priorities and remain highly focused and flexible while working under pressure
  • Event planning and management experience
  • Insatiable appetite for entertainment TV and in-depth knowledge of media
  • Understanding of complex/international media businesses with multiple stakeholders and priorities
  • Experience managing a small team and external agency support and freelancers
  • Adaptable, supportive, team-player who is articulate, informed and tenacious
  • Excellent personal and written communication skills
