With constant advances to the way we live and work, we regularly face new challenges to our existing policies and legislations; you could have the opportunity to lead on solving these problems and truly make a difference to the future of DfTc.

As Head of Competitive Advantage, you will lead policy responsibility across Government and work closely with the Maritime sector, developing the UK’s position on financial incentives as diverse as the UK services sector and Tonnage Tax reform, helping to attract more business to the UK.
 

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Regularly communicating with the wider business and influencing others around you to support any changes implemented
• Responsibility of building and maintaining relationships with key contacts in the Maritime sector, as well as building close working relationships with key partners across Whitehall (in particular, DIT, BEIS & HMT).
• Providing timely and well thought out solutions to problems that may arise when new programmes of activity are implemented
• Lead UK efforts on how to reform Tonnage Tax
• Managing a small team with responsibility for free port policy development
• Creating bespoke packages for bringing in new Maritime businesses to the UK

About you

To be successful in the role, you will have the ability to build exceptional rapport with your colleagues and stakeholders, building trusted relationships which allow you to obtain buy in from others with ease and also allow for professional and respected negotiations. You will be effective in managing your work to tight timescales and strict budgets, being able to work autonomously and keep yourself focussed on getting the job done.

You will have a creative problem solving mindset, with confidence to take ownership of making important decisions under pressure. With a genuine interest in understanding the way your own work impacts / is impacted by outside factors, you will strive to perform and deliver an excellent service for all.
