Consumer Onboarding will give you the opportunity to work in a fun dynamic team who are at the forefront of leading the way for customers & colleagues in transforming & digitising the Lloyds Banking Group Retail Bank across mobile, branch, telephony and internet banking. The transformation culture Consumer Onboarding lives by is to empower its co-located teams to create dynamic environments using agile methodology, including scrum, ultimately providing outstanding customer experiences; and by driving innovative technology solutions that drive iterative change across research, buy and servicing needs to market at pace.

A great opportunity has arisen within the Consumer Onboarding Value Stream as a Back End Engineer. Working in a strong collaborative way to drive efforts to create, build, support and improve our backend software, also working closely with the product and engineering teams with lots of exciting new challenges. You'll be a core contributor to ensure good quality and engineering practices are followed in accordance with engineering transformation strategy.

Key Capabilities
An ideal Back End Engineer for Consumer Onboarding will need to be able to display the following qualities:

Behaviors & Competencies: a "can-do" attitude, capability of bootstrapping projects, and ability to effectively work with multi-disciplinary, internal and external distributed teams across the project lifecycle.

  • Knowledge & Experience
  • Knowledge of JavaScript - 4 years' experience
  • Java Spring - 2 years' experience
  • Java Hibernate - 2 years' experience
  • Rest / SOAP - 3 years' experience
  • Containers - 1 years' experience
  • GIT, test automation and CI - 2 years' experience
  • Application servers - WAS & Liberty - 2 years' experience
  • SQL/NoSQL database - 2 years' experience

Key Accountabilities

  • Build efficient and reusable back-end systems and abstractions
  • Find and address performance issues.
  • Participate in design and code reviews.
  • Identify general improvements and implement backend best practices.
  • Collaborate with the product/design team to iterate the design function and implement the products.
  • Collaborate with Backend and DevOps Engineers to build features and experiments

 

 

What we're looking for

 

  • Understanding of Core java
  • Exposure to SOAP
  • Exposure to Web technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, JQuery, JSON
  • Hibernate ORM experience
  • Exposure to Maven
  • Exposure to at least one of Liberty, Tomcat or Jetty Containers
  • Exposure to open source technologies and frameworks
  • Basic SQL and Database knowledge
  • Basic knowledge of XML and JSON
  • Agile scrum methodology
  • Preferable experience with Python and Big Data technologies including ML
  • Preferable experience with public cloud infrastructure
