Job Details

This is a unique part-time opportunity to gain exposure into an exciting project and portfolio management within the renewable energy and asset investment space. You will join our Green Investment Group as a Senior Portfolio Manager, working across our Project and Portfolio Management team. As a key member of the team, you will support the transition to a low carbon, sustainable global economy. In this role, you will work in the Project and Portfolio Management team with responsibility for management and investment reporting. As an experienced Senior Portfolio Manager, you will have seven or more years’ experience in either a Project Finance portfolio team in a bank, or in an infrastructure fund portfolio unit.

This role will see you help with complex renewable energy assets, including those in a work-out status, handling of contract negotiations, project optimisation, large-scale construction, asset valuations, co-investor and co-lenders interfaces as well as reporting to investment and credit committees. Knowledge of the full suite of project documents (construction, operation, power off-take, fuel supply, equity and dent) is essential, as is familiarity with complex financial models and financial reporting.

Ideally, you will have a demonstrable background in the power generation sector, either renewable or conventional plants. Experience in PPP/PFI would be a suitable alternative, as would experience in the waste to energy sector. To perform at the right level in this role, you should also have experience with taking on the overall responsibility for managing specific assets.

If you are returning from a career break or seeking to move from an industry role to a financial institutional role, this role offers valuable experience in nationally important renewable energy assets. You can work part-time from 3 days/week, up to full time and be based in either London or Edinburgh. As a maternity leave cover position, this role is on a fixed term basis until 1 November 2020.

This role is in Macquarie Capital, specifically within the Green Investment Group. Macquarie Capital provides advisory and capital raising services to corporate and government clients involved in public mergers and acquisitions, private treaty acquisitions and divestments, debt and equity fundraising and corporate restructuring. The Green Investment Group was acquired by Macquarie Group in 2017, creating one of Europe’s largest teams of dedicated green infrastructure investors. It is a specialist in green infrastructure principal investment, project delivery and portfolio management, and related services. Its track record, expertise and capability make it a global leader in green investment across a broad range of technologies including onshore and offshore wind, solar, waste-to-energy, and energy efficiency/storage.

Working at Macquarie

We believe in providing a positive environment for all our staff that is innovative and inspiring. For our female staff, Macquarie’s senior leaders are actively involved in increasing the representation of females in management positions.  In June 2014, we launched a mentoring programme for females, with the following two objectives:

  • Address female retention rates at Senior Manager level and improve our diverse pipeline of talent;
  • Engage female Senior Managers by providing tools and support around their personal development;

The programme pairs up Senior Managers with Directors, who meet on a monthly basis, and are supported by active group sessions (bi-monthly) with an external facilitator.
