Has it been a while since you left social work? Maybe you had a career break or perhaps you left to care for your own family? Whatever the reason you left, we can help you get back into your profession

The Return to Social Work programme offers free training to 200 former social workers so they can restart their careers in local government. Over a flexible period, you will receive high quality training with:

  • Hands-on work placements
  • Comprehensive coaching and mentoring
  • Dedicated interview preparation
  • And all the skills you'll need to get back into work

Getting back into the profession after a period away can be tough. With the support this programme provides, you can regain the confidence, experience and knowledge you need to get back to making a real difference to people’s lives.

The #ReturnToSocialWork programme is an initiative developed by the LGA and Government Equalities Office, designed to support councils with social worker recruitment.

The scheme will run a national recruitment drive on their behalf and carefully select, retrain and support 200 former social workers to return to the profession.
