The team

"Co-ordinated and efficient team of highly competent and knowledgeable individuals." – Chambers & Partners

The UK banking team has a wealth of experience and relationships across the Financial Services sector. The team regularly advises a wide range of lenders as well as large corporate borrowers across all areas including corporate, structured, fund, leveraged and real estate finance.

Located across our London, Bristol and Thames Valley offices, the UK banking team currently consists of 10 Partners, 1 Legal Director, 2 Associate Directors, 9 Senior Associates, 10 Associates, 4 Trainee Solicitors and 6 Paralegals. Madeleine Clark, based in London, leads the team.

Work highlights

We assisted HSBC Bank Plc on a facility made available to Upstream Marketing Programs Limited, a leading mobile commerce platform.

On the international side, we recently advised pan-European fund, Angelo Gordon and Cairn Real Estate on the refinancing of 22,675 sqm out of town retail park, Maxis Muiden located on the outskirts of Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

We have considerable experience in acting for student accommodation providers with a client list that includes Student Castle, Unite, Arlington and GSA.

Our team is proficient in advising on build to rent deals and has recently assisted Cording on their Saffron Court development in Nottingham. This is just one of a stream of BTR deals that Cording are undertaking.

We assisted Santander with amending and restating an existing arrangement made available to the Regal Healthcare Group in relation to the group’s portfolio of care homes.

We acted for the lenders in Project Waypoint, the financing of the Coolabi Group, a leading independent international media group and rights owner that specialises in the creation, development and brand management of children’s and family intellectual property rights.

APS is a digital banking services provider that is at the forefront of the FinTech challenge to the traditional banking sector. We assisted our client with the provision of £17.5 million of financing facilities by The Royal Bank of Scotland plc. There was also a further £3 million made available by BCI Finance Limited.

Technical skills and experience

You will have gained a broad range of experience in a high quality specialist Banking team. Ideally you will have gained experience within a variety of areas such as general corporate banking, real estate finance and structured finance.

As a guide, due to the nature of the work and the structure of the team, we are looking to appoint an Associate in this area, although we will consider candidates with more or less experience.

Your career development

Like all our lawyers, you will benefit from our multi-award winning career development programme. At each stage of your career this provides you with:

  • clear expectations of your role and what it takes to progress;
    • high quality clients and work, with early responsibility and client exposure;
    • thorough assessment and individual feedback from a range of experienced colleagues;
    • robust technical training with early skills based development, increasingly tailored to you; and
    • reward for your contribution, progression and potential, rather than PQE or tenure.

Salary and benefits

We offer competitive salaries and generous benefits.
