Deployment Lead

iPSL are looking for a Deployment Lead reporting to the Deployment Manager, the Deployment Lead is responsible for the management of technical deployment tasks across ICS (Image clearing solution) Test and Production environments and is accountable for accurate and timely implementation of ICS products & services in target environments. They are responsible for following the deployment strategy with set quality standards across different environments, as well as coaching the deployment team members for promoting the same. The role involves driving technical stewardship with due diligence for harbouring the right talent with in the team.

The role will be based in Northampton, and comes with a competitive salary of around £35,000 (depending on experience) + Car allowance of £4,100 and Private Family Healthcare

The hours of work will be 35 per week Monday to Friday.

It is critical that the successful candidate develops their technical and business knowledge on ICS work streams as they are expected to work collaboratively with other internal departmental leads and peers to provide an excellent service to internal and external clients. 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Plan and facilitate the iPSL or third party code deployments in ICS work streams.
  • Ensure that the work package deliveries are suitable as per deployment standards.
  • Review the implementation plans for application fixes in ICS internal or third party applications.
  • Produce technical documentation and workflow maps for deployment staff on ICS systems.
  • Facilitate the application and environment configuration as per the requirements of testing.
  • Highlight the technical risks or challenges in the implementation technique or processes.
  • Keep track of deployment activities in various environments via IT Service Management (ITSM) tools.
  • Attend triage meetings and allocate the work to team members.
  • Review the work in draft or completed by deployment analysts.
  • Provide technical guidance in automating support procedures.
  • Supervise a team of technical Deployment Analysts and facilitate the technical/process guidance for them on ICS work streams.
  • Mitigate the challenges faced by Deployment Analysts in their day to day work.
  • Supervise the workload of Deployment staff and ensure work meets the agreed timelines.
  • Motivate the Deployment staff and mentor them with best practices for issue resolution.
  • Ensure that knowledge is spread across the team for ICS products & services, especially for the new or less experienced team members.
  • Assist other functional areas in understanding their requirements and reporting their needs to the team.
  • Communicate clear instructions to team members as per the steer from management.
  • Administration and reporting tasks as requested by the Deployment Manager.
  • Manage the priority of work internally in the team, as per the guidelines from management.
  • Convey the responsibilities delegated by other functional areas like Change Management, Problem Management, Incident Management etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Experience of working in Image Clearing Systems (ICS).
  • Advance knowledge of Microsoft technologies with demonstrated experience in SQL, IIS.
  • Advance scripting skills in PowerShell.
  • Experience of working in cloud based toolset like Azure, AWS or Google Cloud.
  • Experience of working in Agile and Waterfall environments.
  • Demonstrated experience of complex and highly integrated IT solutions as well as technical expertise in automation products or methodologies.
  • Proven experience of working in second or third level or equivalent technical support teams.
  • Understanding on Network & Firewall principles.
  • Strong experience in dealing with life cycle of the release, build and packaging processes with their workflow.
  • Excellent resource demand planning skills.
  • Good negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Coaching & mentoring skills.
  • Excellent working knowledge in the automated release deployment and build processes.
  • Excellent Root Cause Analysis & problem solving skills.
  • MI Reporting skills.
  • Hands on experience in external connectivity tools like MFT, Connect Direct etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication along with presentation skills, and ability to provide technical documentation for support teams.
  • Driving results, working to ensure that milestones/deliverables are met and schedules protected, and providing the support and facilitation to achieve that.
  • Manage priorities and ensuring that focus is maintained on desired outcomes.

Training & Qualifications:

  • ITIL Foundation certification v3
