Job summary

An excellent opportunity has become available to join Lend Lease as an Assistant Project Manager. The Assistant Project Manager will lead on small to medium sized projects on behalf of external/third-party clients.

The successful candidate will manage intermediate level tasks and associated deliverables with financial responsibility for delivering expected margins. You will support the project manager with activities to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of project and program management operations.

The Assistant Project Manager will work alongside the wider project team comprising of the client, design team and other consultants and contractor.

Duties & accountabilities:

  • Determine project management, technical services and external resources required for the project on an individual, and team basis on behalf of the client organisation.
  • Collaboratively work with the project team (client, design team and other consultants, and contractors) and all stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of the project.
  • Manage design/consultant team and project stakeholders to ensure effective completion of responsibilities including project brief/scope, fees, processing claims, deliverables and/or project variations etc.
  • Display strong communication and negotiation skills to support the client/customer focus.
  • Produce design and authorities programme to be integrated with procurement and delivery programme.
  • Manage the timely delivery to programme from project inception/brief, through design development and planning, contractor procurement and construction phase in accordance with the overall delivery program and agreed project milestones.
  • Assist with the timely sequencing / methodology and production of staging plans.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in cognate (project management and/or construction related discipline), non-cognate degree or equivalent professional experience / apprenticeship, combined with a demonstrable intermediate level of role knowledge.
  • Knowledge of consultancy, construction, infrastructure and property industries and an understanding of estimating, scheduling, contracts administration, procurement, commercial controls and reporting.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills for resolving planning, estimating, contract administration and procurement issues within construction and design activities.
  • Good interpersonal skills to prepare reports, negotiate and build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Competencies include; Interpersonal Ability, Influencing and Negotiation, Problem Solving and Analytical Thinking, Technology and Process, Verbal Communication, Written Communication.
  • Professional accreditation with RICS, CIOB, APM or equivalent (Desirable).
