Job description

The Maritime & Coastguard Agency has started an ambitious IT transformation programme that will deliver improved capability across an expanded IT workforce. We aim to improve all technology services whilst supporting the wider business on its own transformation requirements and ensuring IT aligns to their needs.

We are looking for an IT Service Managers to work in the application operations team. You will be responsible for defining Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Operational Level Agreements (OLAs) across all relevant business functions. You manage a fully functioning, multi-sourced service support team with a customer-centric support approach across multiple locations, focussed on service availability and performance.

These roles provide you with a fantastic opportunity to influence key IT functions at the MCA, helping to shape and create an environment that makes a real difference for the UK public.
 

Responsibilities

Roles Responsibilities include and not limited to:

• Delivering core business physical and virtual infrastructure across MCA.
• Working and communicating effectively with business representatives across MCA.
• Supporting the reporting performance quality measures.
• Supporting the securing of funding for delivery through a business case.
• Supporting effective budget management.
• Supporting continuous review of operational and performance insights and trend analysis.

You will operate to a normal weekday working pattern consisting of a 7.4 hour working day and over the course of a year you will work 1931 net conditioned hours. You will sometimes be required to occasionally work outside of normal conditioned hours, and to work/travel on official duty within the UK and short-term visits overseas.

About You

Do you have experience in and also competent in the following areas:

- Experience in delivering systems and service standards.
- Ability to utilise mechanisms to seek out and respond to feedback from customers.
- Ability to support the development of proposals to improve quality of service.
- Proven ability to communicate in a straightforward, honest and engaging manner.
- Ability to anticipate, investigate and resolve problems in systems and services.

This vacancy is using Success Profiles, and will assess your Behaviours, Strengths, Experience and Technical skills.

The sift is due to take place Week Commencing 2nd March.

Interviews/assessments are likely to be held Week Commencing 10th March.

Interviews will be held in Southampton.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is an executive agency of the United Kingdom working to prevent the loss of lives at sea and is responsible for implementing British and international maritime law and safety policy. It is also responsible for land based search and rescue helicopter operations from 2015.
