Would you like to make a difference to the information available to the 615 parishes of the diocese, working with skilled colleagues in an attractive modern office environment?

The Role

We are seeking a Governance and Projects Officer to join the team in Oxford. The diocese is one of the largest in the Church of England covering the three counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire with a thousand parishes, church schools and chaplaincies.

Working closely with the Diocesan Secretary, who is the Chief Officer of the diocese, and others across the diocese to support its mission and general business, the role will include:

  • Developing and communicating web and other material.
  • Providing governance services.
  • Engaging in other project work as required.

About You

As Governance and Projects Officer you will have an understanding of and empathy for the work of the Church of England, as well as ability to subscribe to the organisation’s Christian ethos and values. You will bring with you:

  • Experience of servicing meetings including the preparation of agendas and minutes.
  • Strong administrative skills, including experience of Microsoft office products.
  • The ability to research, present and make recommendations.
  • Experience of interpreting questions and providing appropriate responses to internal and external enquiries, based on research and/or technical knowledge or experience.
  • Effective project and time management skills.
  • Experience of setting up and maintaining effective systems for data management.
  • Experience of prioritising workload.

The diocese’s Christian vision, ethos and principles underpin the way the Board runs. The post-holder must be committed to their principles and values, as well as supporting the diocesan strategy.

You will be asked to complete an application form and a cover letter as part of the recruitment process.

About the Organisation

The Diocese is the administrative area of the Church of England that, broadly speaking, covers the three counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. There are 815 churches in the Diocese – more than any other diocese in the Church of England. So in many ways the best description is that it is the family of the 55,000 or so regular worshippers in these churches.

You may also have experience in areas such as Governance Officer, Project Officer, Governance and Projects, Company Secretary, Trustee, Diocesan, Information Governance Officer, Information and Governance, Compliance, Governance and Compliance, Diocesan Trustee.
