What is the purpose of this role?

To assist the Operatives to undertake the Highways works in accordance with the clients instructions and ensure the teams are correctly and effectively recording site information.



What will this role involve?

Maintain high technical standards and solutions Attend project briefings as required Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and manage and mentor apprentices and operatives and coordinate the work of others as necessary aligned to the instructions of your Supervisor/Manager.

Be rresponsible for the security of vehicles/plant and materials under their direct control,plan work and estimate fleet/plant and material requirements.

Carry out a wide range of general maintenance tasks e.g. drainage, kerbing, fencing, walling, sweeping, signing, patching, traffic management Drive/operate vehicles/plant requiring general and specialist skills including vehicle pre use checks, to include, (. oil and water checks) and cleaning Keep records, complete all necessary paperwork, communicate and liaise with other employees of Amey, sub-contractors, the emergency services, the police, the general public, clients and customers

Report any Health and Safety , team or performance concerns to the Supervisor

Other duties, as required Supervise and support the operatives directly under their control contributing to overall service delivery to a defined programme of work activity Liaise with the Supervisor and Pre Works Technician as appropriate to meet the KPIs and 'right first time' philosophy



What are we looking for?

Appropriate legislative and compliance HSEA training Appropriate CSCS card or equivalent competency card CITB Site Safety Management (or equivalent) Experience of Chapter 8 and Traffic Management on High speed roads NRSWA Personal Highway Safety Certificate Operational knowledge Experience with delivering emergency service and winter service Experience of managing a workforce Experience as a Highways Operative Self-motivated and pro-active in terms of delivering solutions Demonstrable leadership qualities Good communication skills Problem solving skills
