Job description

You will provide support to the Aviation Programme Manager in coordinating the delivery of the Governments £1.6 billion Search and Rescue Helicopter contract and other high value programmes within the MCA.

As the Delivery Manager your role is critical in monitoring the delivery of key products, ensuring potential risks are managed effectively, maximising the identification of positive opportunities, supporting the identification and management of task dependencies, maintaining an audit trail of PPM decisions, maintaining the project information/data repository, and championing the use of project management tools and techniques. You are responsible for tracking project and programme performance, ensuring programme governance documentation is kept up to date and supporting the senior management team with the delivery of the UKSARH successor programme, and any other activity required by the Commercial directorate.
 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Support the Deputy Aviation Programme Manager in:
· Maintaining project and programme documentation
· Development and maintenance of project plans
· Providing regular updates regarding progress or potential delays
· Assisting in planning, coordinating, drafting and securing project assurance, governance, decisions and approval documents and activities
· Assisting in the identification, analysis and management of risks and issues
· Monitoring progress or slippage in the delivery of projects and programmes
· Co-ordinating internal and external project delivery audit activities and acting as custodian of project documentation
· Collating and distributing project and highlight reports to relevant personnel within the MCA, and to external stakeholders, as or when required
· Act as a focal point for project queries and best practice by:
· Increasing awareness of portfolio management activities within the Commercial Directorate;
· Answering questions raised or escalating to relevant colleagues;
· Identifying and recording any issues and questions which could affect the progress of the SARH successor programme and reporting them to relevant colleagues within the Commercial Directorate;
· Promoting best practice project management and identifying opportunities to enhance project delivery approaches and techniques.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is an executive agency of the United Kingdom working to prevent the loss of lives at sea and is responsible for implementing British and international maritime law and safety policy. It is also responsible for land based search and rescue helicopter operations from 2015.
