Position Summary

This is an exciting role within the UK Ad Sales Team, responsible for driving revenue from advertising across all Discovery Brands on all digital platforms.

The candidate will be an excellent team player able to thrive within a complex matrix structure, they will need to be strategic whilst also being commercial, creative but highly organized, who works hard but is also fun.  They need to work well within our team but excel at building client relationships.

Responsibilities

Grow Advertising revenue across all platforms, with a particular focus on digital, social and Youtube

  • Grow revenue with existing strategic clients/agencies
  • Own all revenue growth from assigned client/agency patch
  • Maintain and grow client relationships
  • Work cross-functionally with the rest of the sales team, product teams to Continually look for ways to optimise the ad sales business
  • Working with the Director, Ad Sales & Programmatic to diversify sources of ad revenue by introducing new technology partners, platforms and formats
  • Grow digital ad revenue lines to maximise CPMs and revenue from programmatic, social, direct digital and VOD
  • Have an interest in Data and the role it plays within the digital ecosystem
  • Own relationships with UK Agency teams for all AVOD (TV and online), Programmatic, Digital and Social
  • Build internal relationships with central support teams for Adops Delivery, Tech support, product development
  • Work with other Digital Ad Sales teams Centrally and in other markets to ensure that Ad Sales needs are being represented effectively
  • Champion UK commercial digital projects
  • Management and development of junior team members where necessary
  • Full ownership of all aspects of the sell including reporting and optimisation
  • Willingness to learn and develop to build expert knowledge of all areas of digital

Requirements

Skills:

  • 3-5 years of experience selling Programmatic, digital, social or TV to media agencies or direct to brands
  • Owns a strong list of relevant industry contacts
  • Is an excellent strategic sales person
  • Is talented at developing relationships internally and externally
  • Keeps own strategy responsive to market changes
  • Effective working in a matrix, able to maximise relationships
  • Has the vision to understand the importance of consumer insights in developing creative thinking and strategic partnerships
  • Has the courage to share opinion on challenging matters and debate them
  • Very strong financial capability & experience; plans & executes sales plans effectively
  • Ability to identify revenue opportunities
  • Excellent presentation skills

 Knowledge:

  • Preferred - Experience working with SSPs/DSPs and programmatic marketplaces
  • Experience working with Social platforms
  • Experience with video platforms/marketplaces
  • Experience with ad serving platforms (display and video)
  • Strong background with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel & Powerpoint
  • Solid understanding of overall media market and industry trends 
  • Knowledge of linear TV or BVOD
  • Understanding of Discovery Inc, the key brands and channels
  • Full understanding of the sales environment and successful practices
