What will you be accountable for?

Systems team mission is to enable our partners by delivering a secure, performant and reliable hardware and software that are easy to use. Software engineers in the Systems Group are responsible for developing the pre silicon bring up software of the next generation of compute systems. You will be working in a highly focused group within Arm's Central Engineering Systems Development team, where you will help verify our next generation compute systems using state of the art technologies, methodologies and tools. You will work closely with architects and other design, verification and implementation engineers and will be expected to support less experienced engineers.

We are looking for an expert software engineer who can help with low level software development to bring up, test and debug various Arm processor-based compute subsystems. The successful candidate will be responsible for

• Developing pre silicon verification software which can run on Arm processor-based compute solutions
• Developing and maintaining a performant pre silicon verification software.
• Creating, owning and maintaining software for the IO devices within the compute solutions.

Job Requirements

What skills, experience and qualification do you need?

• Bachelors (BS) or Masters (MS) in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering - although other degrees will be considered with relevant work experience
• You will need experience of embedded programming.
• Understanding of the fundamentals of computer architecture and systems
• You will have practical experience of working on Processor based system designs
• Sound knowledge of C
• Hands on experience with hardware and software debuggers
• Knowledge of shell programming/scripting (e.g. Tcl Perl, Python etc.)
• You will have the ability to work under time-scale pressure and meet bold targets without compromising on quality
• Technical team leadership experience
• Experience of mentoring and coaching

About the office

Our office in Manchester, England hosts diverse teams from throughout Arm including debuggers, HPC tools, technical communications, DevOps infrastructure provision and open-source software development.
