Job Details

Could you develop our Software Asset Management capability? Are you able to devise and implement the processes, systems and tooling we need to optimise the Bank’s utilisation of software?  Can you develop long-term relationships with suppliers? If yes, then we may have the role for you!

As a Software Asset Manager (SAM) you will look after how we procure, deploy, maintain, utilise and decommission all software applications within Metro Bank. You will be working as part of our rapidly expanding Procurement and Supplier Commercial team. You will work in partnership with key sponsors across IT and the business to ensure software is effectively procured and entitlements and utilisation are understood.  You will also act as our main point of contact with the major software suppliers

So what would you be doing?...

• Monitoring software entitlement and utilisation on prem and in the cloud

• Forecasting demand and planning capacity

• Understanding contract compliance, and keeping up to date on software license entitlements

• Building the Bank’s SAM capability – process and systems, and engaging external expert advisers where required on complex contracts

• Acting as relationship owner with major software suppliers

• Setting software budgets with the Bank’s leadership team

• Managing contracts and performance, as well as the contract renewals and terminations

• Making sure the right controls are in place at all stages of purchase, maintenance and disposal or termination

You need to be this kind of person…

• Passionate about providing unparalleled levels of service and convenience for customers

• Prepared to stick at something – we get nervous if someone has jumped from job to job as we want people who are prepared to learn and grow

• Able to work and learn quickly in a fast paced, fun and dynamic environment

• Care about doing a great job and exceeding expectations with the quality of what you do

And... we are a bank so risk is a part of everything we do. We love people who take responsibility, do the right thing for customers, colleagues and Metro Bank and have the courage to call out any concerns.

We always support colleagues to develop their skills. But to be successful in this job you really do need to already be able to do most of these wonderful things…

• Understand the risks associated with your job and what that means for you, Metro Bank and all our stakeholders

• Naturally you will already have in-depth experience working as a Software Asset Manager, or another similar role

• The ability to develop long term strategies on how to best get value from software suppliers should be clearly demonstrated in your career

• In order to excel in this role you will have previously worked on supplier contracts with values up to £50m

• We would get really excited if you could show case your ability in working with a variety of supplier contract models
