Job description

TThe Maritime & Coastguard Agency has started an ambitious IT transformation programme that will deliver improved capability across an expanded IT workforce. We aim to improve all technology services whilst supporting the wider business on its own transformation requirements and ensuring IT aligns to their needs.

We are looking for a Service Readiness Analyst to operate within our Southampton based MCA team. You will test the products and are accountable for application acceptance and checking whether security criteria have been met.

You will flag any potential risks and escalate these to the service transition manager.

This role provides you with a fantastic opportunity to influence key IT functions at the MCA, helping to shape and create an environment that makes a real difference for the UK public.
 

Responsibilities

Roles Responsibilities include and not limited to:

• Supports the delivery and testing of digital, data and technology services effectively from build into run;
• Supports the design and implementation of effective transition plans for I&T services;
• Executes system and/or acceptance tests, assuring both service and operational readiness reviews are effective;
• Co-ordinates MCA resource to support the execution of tests and provision of evidence required to ensure service acceptance criteria is met;
• Ensures acceptance plans are signed off in conjunction with Service owners and Service Managers on behalf on the user community;
• Can identify process improvements and contribute to the definition of best practice.
• Assures services provided by suppliers align to the I&T Operating model and MCA strategy;
• Supports the management of change so to ensure the introduction of new services will not negatively impact live services;
• Maintains product or service acceptance criteria in conjunction with key stakeholders;
• Maintains acceptance documentation in line with service transition policies and methodologies;
• Executes the Service Acceptance elements of the delivery life-cycle;
• Inputs into continual service improvement activity across service transition

You will operate to a normal weekday working pattern consisting of a 7.4 hour working day and over the course of a year you will work 1931 net conditioned hours. You will sometimes be required to occasionally work outside of normal conditioned hours, and to work/travel on official duty within the UK and short-term visits overseas.

About You

You will also have experience in and be competent in the following areas:

- Experience of planning and executing testing both functional and non-functional;
- Knowledge of service delivery life-cycles, methodologies and tools;
- Knowledge and experience of different migration methods for applications and infrastructure services;
- Ability to lead design transition and testing focused workshops, showing agility and the ability to be creative;
- Experience of working with third party suppliers and service providers;
- Working knowledge of technical infrastructure, commercial elements of solutions and licensing models;
- Proven experience of identifying process improvements and delivery of best practice.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is an executive agency of the United Kingdom working to prevent the loss of lives at sea and is responsible for implementing British and international maritime law and safety policy. It is also responsible for land based search and rescue helicopter operations from 2015.
