As part of the team responsible for financial control, you will play a key role as a financial advisor for the Macquarie Asset Management division in London. Acting as a primary Finance contact point for Macquarie Asset Management’s legal entities in EMEA, you will be responsible for driving effective legal entity management within the financial control function.

You will take responsibility for the implementation of the financial control framework including overseeing monthly Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet, understanding the process flows for key judgement areas, implementing new transfer pricing arrangements and ensuring bookings are reflected under the correct accounting standards.

You will also be responsible for reviewing proposed transactions for appropriate accounting and commercial treatment, assisting with technical accounting analysis and implementation of new products. Additionally, you will assist with financial integration of new acquisitions and businesses, liaising with other areas of the Financial Management Group (Group Finance, Regulatory Reporting, Tax and Treasury and so on).

As the successful candidate, you’ll work with a number of staff across various locations in the Financial Management Group supporting the Macquarie Asset Management business. You will work with key stakeholders on a regular basis such as the CFO and heads of Financial Control for this business, Division heads of the various Asset Management businesses, regional CFO and Financial Controller as well as external auditors.

You will have close interaction with offshore Finance teams, fund accountants and our legal entity control team to ensure correct accounting treatment. Where required, you will assist with the financial control functions of other business areas.

You will have a University degree, coupled with a formal accounting qualification (Chartered Accountant or equivalent is preferred), with experience in a similar role, and the technical competency (IFRS/FRS101) to be able to deal with managed funds products. Strong internal and external stakeholder engagement skills, and control/ risk awareness will be required for you to be successful in this role.

You will also possess strong organisation skills with the ability to prioritise tasks, a high level of accuracy with a ‘right first-time’ approach and strong attention to detail with the ability to re-assess and re-engineer work processes.
