Job description

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) are looking for a passionate and confident Aviation Stakeholder Engagement Lead to join their exciting Second-Generation Aviation Search and Rescue Programme, known as UKSAR2G.

UKSAR2G is the successor programme of the current UKSARH contract which is in its third year of operation. UKSARH replaced the UK’s legacy search and rescue helicopter arrangements which consisted of a mixture of military and Coastguard helicopters. All search and rescue helicopters now operate under the Coastguard and are operated on behalf of the MCA by Bristow Helicopters Ltd.

As Stakeholder Engagement Lead you will have responsibility for leading the delivery of the stakeholder engagement strategy for UKSAR2G. You will work alongside the Coastguard Senior Interface Manager, the MCA’s Commercial Directorate and MCA Press Office to deliver communications to our partner organisations, the media, Ministers and MPs, and others. You will identify opportunities to work with our stakeholders promoting the UKSAR2G programme and wider search and rescue, keeping all interested groups and individuals informed.

The current UKSARH Programme is responsible for the rescue of thousands of lives every year and you could be part of the next decade of the Coastguard search and rescue.

As part of this role, some UK travel is expected with potential for overnight stays.

Responsibilities

The role responsibilities include:

• Lead on the development and implementation of a robust engagement strategy which identifies the key diverse stakeholder groups for UKSARH/UKSAR2G and how they will be managed

• Act as the go-to on all related plans for engagement on USKAR2G as the programme develops

• Identifying and championing engagement opportunities within the aviation stakeholder community: ensure appropriate representation at relevant meetings; seek opportunities to engage in stakeholder forums; schedule events that can be used to further promote UKSAR2G’s goals

• Develop, update and deliver the objectives of the UKSAR2G Engagement Strategy, working with colleagues in the Communications Team, DfT, central Government and others to ensure consistent engagement and communications with industry, stakeholders, media and the general public

• Actively monitor comms activity and participate in the required programme boards and assurance reviews as part of the UKSAR2G programme

• Lead on the Team's involvement in any proactive or reactive media/press enquiries and documentaries, and provide support to the MCA's Press Office on Aviation matters

• Develop briefings for groups and individuals with an interest in search and rescue, drawing on tools and expertise provided from within the team where necessary

• Develop ‘lines to take’ briefings for Ministers and senior officials when attending meetings on matters to do with UK SAR2G

• Coordinate Ministers' and officials' visits to SAR helicopter bases where necessary
