Job description

The Maritime & Coastguard Agency has started an ambitious IT transformation programme that will deliver improved capability across an expanded IT workforce. We aim to improve all technology services whilst supporting the wider business on its own transformation requirements and ensuring IT aligns to their needs.

We are looking for a Lead Service Transition Manager to operate within our Southampton based MCA team. You will be responsible for the planning and coordination of resources to ensure that services are effectively transitioned into service operation. You will be solely responsible for the coordination activities across projects, suppliers and service teams.

This role provides you with a fantastic opportunity to lead a key function within IT at the MCA, helping to shape and create an environment that makes a real difference for the UK public.
 

Responsibilities

include and not limited to:

• Ensuring new digital, data and technology services are effectively transitioned from build into run.
• Responsible for designing and implementing I&T service acceptance standards and criteria.
• Responsible for designing and implementing effective transition plans for I&T services.
• Planning, scheduling and coordinating of resources to enable effective transition for new IT services.
• Development of acceptance documentation.
• Controlling the service acceptance elements of the delivery life-cycle.
• Ensuring risks and issues are mitigated, limiting impact of a risk on operations.

You will operate to a normal weekday working pattern consisting of a 7.4 hour working day and over the course of a year you will work 1931 net conditioned hours. You will sometimes be required to occasionally work outside of normal conditioned hours, and to work/travel on official duty within the UK and short-term visits overseas.

About You

You will also have experience in and be competent in the following areas:

- Experience of designing and implementing system migration plans;
- Evidence of successfully transitioning services from build environments into operation;
- In-depth knowledge of service delivery life-cycles, methodologies and tools;
- In-depth knowledge and experience of different migration methods for applications and infrastructure services;
- Ability to lead design transition focused workshops, showing agility and the ability to be creative;
- Proven experience of working with third party suppliers and service providers;
- Ability to identify technical and business risk and effective mitigation planning;
- Good understanding of technical infrastructure, commercial elements of solutions and licensing models;

It is also responsible for land based search and rescue helicopter operations from 2015.
