Our client is a charity established in 2013 that champion’s the use of effective early intervention to improve the lives of children and young people at risk of experiencing poor outcomes.

We are looking for someone to ensure the quality and accuracy of data in our client’s finance and project governance systems.

Position: Finance and Projects Officer

Location: London (SE1) – homeworking available

Salary: £25,427 to £26,765 depending on experience, pro-rata for part time hours

Duration: 12-month fixed term contract

Hours: Full-time or part time (28 – 35 hours per week)

Closing Date: 19 August 2020

About the role:

As Finance and Projects Officer you will be responsible for analysing and reconciling the finance (Xero) and project governance (Zoho) systems and producing monthly reports for management action.

You will be responsible for ensuring the data quality in both systems, taking ownership of the data to ensure it remains complete and accurate. Working to the Head of Finance and Project Governance, you will develop strong routines of weekly and monthly data input, audit checks, reconciliations and reporting that supports this objective.

You will be responsible for Xero up to trial balance, corresponding with suppliers and ensuring invoices and expense claims are correctly coded and authorised, before loading them onto Xero. You will also ensure that bank and credit card reconciliations are completed weekly.

You will also be responsible for Zoho Projects, maintaining the timesheet module and producing monthly utilisation report and setting up projects, users, tasks and milestones. You will also meet with project leads regularly to understand budget variances and forecasts and support them improve their resource plans. You will also review staff allocations to projects to ensure time conflicts are resolved and provide training and support to all users.

In addition, you will provide support for monthly project board meetings attending and taking minutes and ensuring that actions are followed up. In all aspects, we need someone who will proactively seeking to improve our systems and procedures.

About you:

If you are passionate about accuracy and attention to detail and have experience of working in a project-based environment, then this could be the role for you! Our client is looking for someone who loves systems, is a self-starter and enjoys working as part of a close-knit small team.

You will also bring with you the following skills and experience:

  • Book-keeping experience, using Xero or other accounting software
  • Experience of working in a project-based environment
  • Experience of working with and analysing data of differing types, both financial and non-financial
  • Highly developed knowledge and skill in Microsoft Excel
  • Aptitude for designing, implementing and improving systems
  • Confidence in working with systems, software and applications
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
