Job Details
OFFICE BASED; MULTI-LOCATION; HOME BASED IN THE UK BELFAST, CARDIFF, BIRMINGHAM, LONDON, YORK OCCASIONAL TRAVEL REQUIRED Please be aware that this role can only be worked within the UK and not overseas. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown, new-starters will be required to work from home with no travel required. Once the situation changes the post holder will revert back to their preferred contract and be required to fulfil travel obligations.
About the job Summary
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) is a non-Ministerial independent Government department. Challenges around ensuring food safety are increasingly complex and it’s our job to use our expertise and influence so that people can trust that the food they buy and eat, is safe and honest. The FSA conducts a range of research, policy and operational activity across England, Wales and Northern Ireland to protect the consumer.
The Regulated Products Risk Assessment Team sits within the Risk Assessment Unit (RAU) which forms part of the Science, Evidence and Research Division (SERD. The activities that SERD handle directly support delivery of FSA strategic objectives for consumer protection.
Job description
If successful, you will be working closely with our advisory committee to facilitate the risk assessment of genetically modified and gene-edited foods in the UK. Working within a wider regulated products team, you will be the technical secretariat lead for GM and GE foods.

Selection process details
