Volunteering and Community Officer

We’re looking to recruit a Volunteering and Community Officer for the Stroke Community Steps project - a 4-year Wales-wide initiative funded by The National Lottery Community Fund.

Position: Volunteer and Community Steps Officer

Location: Home based, Mid Wales with frequent travel across the service area

Hours: 21 hours per week

Salary: Circa £13,800 per annum

Contract: Permanent (This role is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, until March 2022)

The Role

Community Steps will create support services for stroke survivors in communities across Wales, integrate them in existing services and ensure their needs are considered when local organisations and decision makers are creating or changing local facilities and activities.

Reporting to the Volunteering and Community Manager, the Volunteering and Community Steps Officers will work as part of the Community Steps project team to deliver its outcomes and objectives.

You will:

 

  • Create peer support opportunities according to local need as identified by consultation and ongoing engagement with those affected by stroke.
  • Work with stroke survivors to identify suitable community activities and facilities and assist them to take part through increasing confidence and raising awareness of the needs of stroke survivors amongst providers.
  • Be able to develop and disseminate tools to help people affected by stroke to campaign in their local area and develop links with local campaigning organisations where they exist.
  • Be expected to implement volunteering, community activity and user engagement plans as agreed with local staff.
  • Be required to grow the community network by identifying new roles and opportunities and recruit and support new volunteers as agreed in the project plan.

 

About You

As Volunteering and Community Steps Officer, you will have a proven track record of ensuring that project information is captured through data monitoring, reporting and updating of CRM and other mediums as required.

You will be expected to provide regular project updates and reports to the project manager and collect local case studies (volunteers, voluntary group members, people affected by stroke) and share with the Communications/PR team and produce content for social media

The use of a car with business use cover and the ability to drive is essential to be able to fulfil the requirements of the role.
