Mental Health Support Worker

We are looking for a Mental Health Support Worker to provide flexible, practical, holistic and accessible support to Gypsies and Travellers in Leeds to improve and promote mental wellbeing.

Position: Mental Health Support Worker

Location: Cross Green, Leeds 

Hours: 28 hours per week

Salary: £23369 – £25295 per annum pro rata

Contract: Initial 3-year contract

The Role

The Mental Health Support Worker forms part of the delivery network for Live Well Leeds – a city wide partnership delivering community based mental health support commissioned by Leeds City Council.

You will be part of a small and dedicated services team, contributing to its effective running through outreach, advocacy and good communication with colleagues and members.

You will:

• Develop an understanding of the delivery across the partnership and in Leeds and make sure people have access to the support that they want in as few steps as possible.
• Be a trusted assessor for the service
• Be working in partnership with other agencies in the field of mental health, the Mental Health Support Worker will work to ensure increased accessibility to mental health support services, reflecting on and implementing best practice.
• Work within an agreed monitoring framework for the service and for the organisation.

Please note due to current circumstances you will be required to do some work from home, with desk space at the office on a booking basis and outreach appointments being risk assessed.

About You

As Mental Health Support Worker, you will be able to encourage, inspire and help people to build on their own strengths. You will be solution focussed, creative, brave and ready to make an impact within the community.

You will bring you knowledge and experience of:

• Safeguarding
• Mental health assessment skills including risk assessment and support planning
• Case management, including managing referrals and case load
• Working with people experiencing enduring and severe mental health issues, mental distress and complex needs
• The impact of living with a mental health condition on individuals and their families
• Effective interventions to support mental wellbeing
• Working with groups and individuals experiencing exclusion
• Working in a safeguarding framework including supporting vulnerable adults at risk
• Recording, monitoring and evaluation
