The Scope
As part of the Senior Leadership team, the Marketing Director will create and deliver strategies for the successful marketing of Alton Towers Resort . Alton Towers Resort isn't just a theme park, it's made up of fabulous hotels, restaurants , and second gates including SEA LIFE and the Dungeons , and you will be responsible for ensuring a consistent delivery of the Alton Towers Resort brand on and off site . Within your role you'll be delivering gate revenue, hotel sleepers, budgeted visitors and EBITDA targets , and it'll be your responsibility or deliver long term growth for the Resort.
You'll have full overall responsibility for the Marketing Function , along with four direct reports :
· Head of Brand Marketing,
· Head of Commercial Marketing,
· Head of PR & Media Relations
· Corporate Sales Manager
Marketing (the creative stuff!)
You'll produce and implement yearly marketing plans (consumer trade, schools & corporate channels), alongside a n annual PR strategy to maximize brand exposure. The Director will also drive events, develop Covid-19 recovery / social distance programs, ensure compliance of the core Alton Towers Resort brand platform, and manage all existing market analysis and research.
Lastly, you'll be working with other senior marketing colleagues to maximize returns, implement strategic online activities, manage strategic promotional partners, and direct the activities of chosen agency partners.
Finance
Our new Marketing Director will p ropose and control central Marketing budgets , support the hotels Director and Commercial Director with secondary revenue streams, whilst simultaneously optimizing hotel revenue and ticket yields.
People
Your role will be heavily people focused! You'll be working closely with peers across our Resort Theme Parks and other Merlin Entertainments divisions to synergize strategies. It's also important for you to develop all direct reports to a higher level of brand, strategic and financial awareness, and drive the performance of your management team via personal coaching and SMART objective s.
The Marketing Director will need to create a succession plan , working closely with HR to identify training and development needs. You'll also p romote Alton Towers Resort as an Employer of Choice through fun and effective management , and d rive year on year improvements in the annual employee survey.
Development
You'll be in charge of developing our 10-year New Product Development strategy across the entire Resort, whilst also improving brand values and championing the 'consumer perspective' across all departments. To be successful in this part of the role, you'll need to work closely with the Hotels Director and the Head of Entertainments.
Your Knowledge & Expertise
It goes without saying that you'll need at least 10 years of Marketing experience, 5 years working as a Senior Manager, and experience overseeing large budgets. You'll also need strong communication skills, experience in partnering and working in a matrixed or organization with multiple stakeholders, and you'll need to be the right cultural fit for the company (we're a down to earth, results driven, non -political, entrepreneurial, roll up your sleeves to get a job done type of company!)
Experience within the entertainments / leisure industry is a must, but a passion for Theme Parks could be an advantage!
