Technical Trainer Coastguard - Flexible Working Available

Here at the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) we are looking to recruit a Technical Trainer Coastguard Emergency Rescue Casualty Care Lead. You will be report to the Assistant Head of Coastal Operations (Training and Resources).
Coastal Operations specifically covers technical rescue (water rescue, rope rescue, mud rescue and search), incident management, casualty care, and response driving. Your role will be to create and maintain operational procedures and guidance; design, delivery and evaluation of Casualty Care training to support operational response in the Coastguard Rescue Service.
This role will require stake holder management and overseeing delivery and build of programs for staff and volunteers, working closely with HMCG Standards / Coastal Operations, Human resources and Internal Improvement and Assurance. As lead you will work together to ensure policies and procedures are followed and relevant training delivery is maintained throughout the UK to meet recruitment needs and support audit and review processes.
The role requires travel across the UK to provide quality assurance visits, deliver training, represent HMCG and to attend meetings/working groups.
Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
- The design, delivery and maintenance of instructor training to staff who will cascade skills to the CRS.
- Providing quality assurance of cascade training delivery and operational delivery of casualty care.
- Assisting with the development and maintenance of casualty care procedures and policies. Support selection and suitability assessments of equipment.
- Supporting clinical governance within Coastal Operations.
- Representing HMCG as a casualty care training lead.
- Act as lead for CERCC to provide advice and guidance to Coastguard Operations and stakeholders.
- Act as part of operational support for Coastal Operations and the wider MCA.

The role holder will work across the UK but will be required to regularly attend both the Daedalus site or HQ (Southampton). A work vehicle or transport will be available for operational use. Please note, a full driving licence suitable for use in the UK is required.
For the right candidate we will consider the role being based at other MCA locations anywhere in the UK with good transport links to Lee on Solent, Hampshire .
The role involves working with SAR volunteers and operational staff so will require evening and weekend working.
in addition to this, the role is subject to health standard requirements.
The successful candidate will have a good knowledge of the Coastguard Rescue Service and it's capability and have an understanding of Clinical Governance systems.
You will have an understanding of external issues that can have impact on this area of work and can implement robust strategies and activities that will create value and meet the needs of all stakeholders.
You will need to be able to communicate and explain complex information clearly, be confident sharing experiences and knowledge and inspire and motivate others to learn and develop. You will enjoy mentoring and developing other colleagues and continuously seek to improve own and team’s performance.
Experience of developing training courses and training material will be important for this role as well ensuring your own personal development is kept up-to-date. This will require your commitment in gaining an acceptable qualification in assessing and verification, Certificate in Training Practice (CTP), Certificate in Teaching in Lifelong Learning Sector (CTTLS), or equivalent. please note, this level of qualification will need to be maintained.
To be successful you must have relevant experience and qualifications in Search and Rescue or Technical Rescue and a clinical qualification above the level of medical teaching, such as Ambulance Technician or Paramedic, FREC 5 or above, or any course benchmarked above level E on the PHEM matrix with at least 3 years of clinical experience at this level.

Full driving licence suitable for use in the UK
-Qualified above the level of medical teaching - e.g. Ambulance Technician or Paramedic, FREC 5 or above, or any course benchmarked above level E on the PHEM matrix with at least 3 years of clinical experience at this level.
- Relevant experience and qualifications in Search and Rescue or Technical Rescue.
- Formal training/instructional qualification or a minimum of 3 years' proven training experience.
