MALE SUPPORT WORKERS – WILLINGHAM, CAMBRIDGE

Due to the development of our service, we are looking to recruit additional Support Workers to work with a 25 year old gentleman who is shortly moving into a brand new flat, based on our very special Yewdale Farm site in Willingham, Cambridgeshire.
The gentleman being supported has severe learning disabilities and complex needs; part of this support will include the transition period from his current setting. You will be working as a team to develop the best approaches to create a care plan to support his individual needs.
Perhaps this gentleman will enjoy taking care of the animals, horticulture, going on picnics, picking fruit from the onsite orchards, kite flying, arts and crafts, computer courses or cookery? Or perhaps he’ll enjoy strolling to the local village to visit the auction houses, tea rooms and make use of their local conveniences? - This is for you to find out!
Yewdale Farm is a very unique service, which oozes fun and personality! Set within 14 acres of farmland (don’t forget your wellies), their pets include; rabbits, sheep, geese, ducks, dogs and we mustn’t forget the lizard!

Paid after successful completion of probation period (6 months) or, if part time or bank, work the equivalent of 975 hours.
Payments are subject to taxable deductions.
The Welcome Bonus can be withdrawn at any time and without notice.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
To participate in the day-to-day implementation of individual support plans and activities within a challenging environment
To maintain effective communication and liaison with service users, families and other whilst respecting appropriate confidentiality
To support service users with the preparation of meals, laundry duties, cleaning and social events
To maintain accurate notes and records as and when required
To work as part of a team to provide high quality care.
The successful candidate will have:
Due to the rural location of this service and funding agreements for this support plan, car drivers are essential.
NVQ in Health and Social Care or be willing to work towards
Experience in supporting adults with challenging behaviour, learning disabilities and/or mental health issues.
The ability to keep calm under pressure
Confidence to work alone and as part of a team
Excellent communication skills
The passion to work with vulnerable Adults
The desire and commitment to achieve high standards of safeguarding
