Are you a learning support assistant looking for either a full time or part-time role? Do you have experience of assisting in Maths and English classes? Are you immediately available?

Castle Education are working with an outstanding college in the North Yorkshire region who are looking for an Experienced learning support practitioner to support several classes across the college, catching pupils up to speed and supporting them with basic levels of Maths and English. There are two roles available, one offering part-time hours with the other role offering up to Up to 37 hours per week. The learning support assistant would also only be subject to working term time only. The contract is to end in June 2021.

Within the role of learning support practitioner, you will provide support for students returning to education following Covid-19 lockdown, who have struggled with re-engagement. The focus will be to target those learners with lower-level entry qualifications ie GCSE below level 5 in English and Maths and level 1 equivalent.

These roles will provide 121 and group support in identified subject areas, to improve study skills, additional tutorial support and improve organisational skills to enable success in their chosen programme for progression. In addition, you may assist students with an Education, Health and Care plan and those with a range of learning difficulties to develop the necessary skills and competencies for them to be successful in their learning programme. It is expected you will develop learner confidence and empower them to fully engage in learning

The Qualities and Qualifications you are to possess:

Previous support experience, assisting those who have learning difficulties
The skills, experience, and knowledge to deliver a support programme, enabling those who struggle to learn
Enthusiasm and patience to pass on your skills and knowledge to others
A Learning Support qualification is advantageous
DBS on the update service
