Position Overview:

Reporting into the Senior Director International Digital Financial & Strategic Insights, the Director International Digital Financial & Strategic Insights will support on key initiatives for International Digital (especially Discovery+). Supporting FP&A leaders and operational management teams in creating more efficient and streamlined processes, to enable greater time for identifying opportunities for value generation.

Responsibilities

  • Review, analyze and track key projects performance vs. plan (e.g. acquisition of premium sports right) generating and sharing learnings with teams and senior management to be applied in future projects
  • Cooperate closely with central finance team in structuring internal projects such as budget or LRP processes and support the business FP&A leaders to make processes more efficient and shift focus to create actionable insights
  • Support multi-functional finance projects as a digital representative coordinating digital stakeholders, such as D+ revenue recognition project or impairment procedure
  • Create process flows to ensure efficient and compliant workflows
  • Lead and coordinate organizational structuring and execute change with focus on deploying funds most efficiently (e.g. ESD / D+migration)
  • Identify opportunities from analysis of existing projects, thereby generating learnings and better allocation of Discovery investments and allocation of resources
  • Drive standardization across International Digital FP&A Financial & Strategic Insights working closely with the CoE and GBO teams
  • Work proactively on tasks with minimal supervision and collaborate with the International leadership teams, accepting feedback and refining work as required

Requirements

  • A background in consulting, investment banking or corporate development
  • Experience working with DTC business models and ideally firsthand experience working within the media industry
  • Experience with subscription/advertising-based business models, especially in media, is preferred
  • Strong leadership skills, with demonstrable experience of managing and coaching a team
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, matrix environment with quickly evolving, often uncertain, business goals
  • Ability to confidently and concisely present information
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to build relationships and networks at all levels
  • Pro-active self-starter, who uses their own initiative
  • Excellent academic qualifications, with a degree in a numeric or business-related field, as well as 8+ years of work experience
