About the Team
We are currently a team of eight with a range of skill sets that apply to web infrastructure and code. The team is growing and we’re looking for two experienced Engineers to join the team, we have one opportunity at Engineer level and one at Senior Engineer level.

Our key responsibility is to build and promote code that has been created by our development teams to pre-production and production platforms for our main eCommerce websites. Additionally we manage some in house tooling for deployment, monitoring and planning that is used across the whole of eCommerce.

About the Role(s)

Working across multiple platforms, you will be promoting new code plus features to our production websites, monitoring changes that have been promoted, supporting issue resolution and feeding back to stakeholders.

You will work with multiple tools including Azure DevOps, Powershell, Solarwinds, and a series of in-house developed apps, to support our development, QA and support teams. You will be an advocate for automation, identifying manual deployment tasks and creating solutions to remove them.

We have increased our use of automation for builds, deployments, environment creation, and configuration but are looking to expand this to all the eCommerce estate.

We are looking for passionate, committed, hard-working individuals who want to make a difference. We are willing to consider candidates with experience of any technical or infrastructure-related discipline.

We work closely with the ecommerce support team to assist/resolve live high priority and major incidents.

This role will also take part in a callout and office cover rota which is divided across the department which is shared between 30+ members of eCommerce

Essential

  • Experience with Windows & IIS in production environments on large scale platforms

    Knowledge of scripting and automation (PowerShell, Terraform, Bash, AZcli etc)

    Problem Solver - takes on challenges and gets a result

    Ability to communicate with business users, colleagues and management to explain complex issues clearly and concisely

    Ability to work both in a team and alone and manage own workload

    Career motivation and a willingness to continue to further your knowledge and skills

    Flexibility to cover unsociable hours, peak periods and key events

    Preferred Experience

  • Website and infrastructure monitoring tools

    PowerShell scripting knowledge

    TFS Source Control

    MS Operating systems and IIS

    MS Visual Studio

    Senior Engineer

Essential

  • Strong knowledge of scripting and automation (PowerShell, Terraform, Bash, AZcli etc)

    Transact SQL

    Source Control - Git / TFVC

    Ability to lead and project manage the delivery of small projects

    DevOps practices knowledge

    An eye for continuous improvement, both with respect to your own skills and the wider team and its processes.

    Have strong customer and social skills, good relationship building abilities, process driven, able to manage multiple work streams with good prioritisation.
