Residential Conveyancer | Leeds
Legal | £25,000 - £35,000

My client is seeking an experienced Residential Conveyancer / Solicitor to join their busy team in Leeds.

My client is rated by Chambers and Legal 500 directories in the top tiers for work under Agriculture and Estates, Tax and Trusts, Charities and other areas of work. The Property team has a busy caseload supporting these areas of work and generates its own work streams. We are a dynamic and hardworking department, focussed on high service levels and have seen steady growth over the last decade.

The role is predominantly for a residential conveyancer, although the role may include elements of non-standard residential documents such as easements, transfers into trust and intra-family transfers.

Job Experience:

Principal Areas of Work

Buying, Selling and Mortgaging residential properties (freehold and leasehold).
General Property work such as inter-family transfers and Deeds of Grant for easements including transfers of part.
Plot sales - these are sales on small development sites with the potential of setting up the sales packs on such sites.
The residential work carried out by my client is high quality, including country houses and high value property in London, plus a solid base of work in northern cities and towns. There are other sources of work, such as community led housing projects and development sites, where residential units are developed and sold. Knowledge of unregistered conveyancing, site assembly and Trusts would be an advantage.

Clients of the department comprise landed estates, farmers, entrepreneurs, charities, faith groups, schools and private individuals. The department carries out a wide range of work for these clients and specialises in related areas.

The candidate will join a busy and forward-thinking team helping clients to achieve their goals within often tight deadlines. The role would suit someone who wants to work on more bespoke residential property transactions, as the emphasis is on quality rather than quantity of instructions.

The candidate will have the ability to work with limited supervision and be willing to supervise others where necessary and appropriate to experience.

The candidate may be asked to engage in some business development activities. A driving licence and access to a car is desirable, though not essential.

We are seeking energetic and bright candidates who will get on well with clients and fit in with the friendly environment. We have a strong training programme and encourage specialisation where appropriate. We are considering candidates with no less than three years PQE who meet the above criteria.

Salary and benefits:
Salary to be negotiated depending on experience. Benefits include pension, medical insurance and 27 days annual leave per year plus Bank Holidays.

Hours and Place of Work:
The normal office hours are 37½ hours per week (on a full time basis), generally between 9.00 a.m. and 5.30 p.m., by arrangement. There is a 1 hour lunch break to be taken between 12.00 noon and 2.00 p.m. We are happy to consider candidates who require only part time hours or other flexibility. It is expected that the candidate should devote sufficient time to work in order to conduct his/her workload properly and from time to time this may include working alternative or extra hours. The role is based primarily in the Leeds office however occasional meetings will take place at the Sheffield office.

The Firm:
The firm has over 200 employees. The main legal directories recognise various departments and individuals within the firm as leading their field.

The firm has a commitment to the training of all personnel and is accredited for Lexcel and Conveyancing Quality Scheme
